Paper Goods and Odessa's Economy
Paper products may seem ordinary, but they are essential to Odessa's economy. Food producers, wineries, confectioners and agricultural exporters need corrugated boxes and packaging. Online retailers rely on cardboard for shipping. Hotels, restaurants and offices consume large amounts of tissue and hygiene products, while schools and businesses depend on notebooks, printing paper and stationery. As environmental awareness grows, paper packaging is also replacing plastic in many applications.
Ukraine has a significant pulp, paper and cardboard industry, with mills producing containerboard, tissue and writing paper from both virgin fiber and recycled materials. Odessa is supplied by these national producers as well as by local packaging converters and printing houses.

At the same time, the market for printed office paper is gradually declining as businesses digitize workflows, while demand for hygiene and tissue products remains stable.
Sustainability and Recycling in Odessa
Paper recycling has a long tradition in Ukraine, and Odessa businesses can partner with collection companies to recycle cardboard and paper waste. Restaurants, retailers and warehouses generate large volumes of packaging waste that can be turned into raw material for new products. Choosing suppliers that use recycled fiber and certified sources helps businesses reduce their environmental footprint.
How to Choose a Paper Goods Supplier
Identify the type of products you need, such as packaging, tissue or stationery, and request samples to assess quality. For packaging, ask about board strength, moisture resistance and printing options, especially for food and export use. Compare minimum order quantities, lead times and delivery terms. Ask suppliers about recycled content and environmental certifications. Long-term agreements can help secure stable pricing and availability.
